Police books over 100 violators across Valley

SRINAGAR, Mar 24 : Three people including a 22-year-old boy today tested positive for Coronavirus, taking the number of COVID-19 patients to four in Kashmir.
Officials said that as part of the procedure, the samples of the trio were sent to an outside laboratory for cross-checking purposes and at both laboratories, the tests came out to be positive.

A 21-year old man from Bandipora, was admitted in GMC Baramulla few days back and his sample was sent to SKIMS where he tested positive for COVID-19. He has no foreign travel history but had travelled different States within the country. He is already in isolation at GMC Baramulla as are two more patients who have tested negative.
A doctor attending him said that patient had mild symptoms and hospital is following international protocol to treat him.
After he tested positive, panic gripped Baramulla hospital and a doctor who treated him initially, driver who brought him from Bandipora and one of his attendants- father- have been put under quarantine.
Earlier, in the day two people, who had arrived from Saudi Arabia and New Delhi recently and admitted in CD hospital Srinagar, tested positive for COVID-19.
One of them is a resident of Natipora Srinagar and had returned from Saudi Arabia on March 16 in the same flight (443-Air India) which was boarded by the 67-year-old woman who tested positive on March 18, becoming the first COVID-19 case in Kashmir. The Natipora resident is 57-year-old and had reported to the CD hospital only a couple of days back.
The other person is 65-year old Moulana, a resident of Hyderpora Srinagar. He had returned from New Delhi recently as part of a Tablighi Jamaat and took part in meetings that was attended by people from Indonesia and Malaysia.
The duo was yesterday moved to separate isolation facility at CD hospital, which has since been converted into a COVID-19 hospital.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Ahmad Jan, the Medical Superintendent SKIMS, told said that a two persons were admitted in the isolation facility of the hospital today. Nine more persons were admitted to Chest Disease (CD) hospital today.
The 67 year woman from Khanyar who was the first case of Coronavirus in Kashmir has recovered but it will take more time for her to be 100 percent fit.
Soon after two more cases were reported from Srinagar city today, the Directorate of Health Services and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) deputed teams for the containment and sterilization efforts in Natipora and Hyderpora areas.
An official said that they have constituted teams and have started tracing the contacts in both the cases. He added that they are following SOPs in the tracing down all the contacts immediately.
The officials said that the 300 metre radius at both the locations have been sealed off and the search for the contacts has been kick-started.
The SMC deputed around 10 teams to these two locations to carry out the necessary sanitization of the areas in order to prevent further spread of the infection.
The SMC officials said that the Shah Anwar Colony Mosque in Hyderpora area is being decontaminated entirely and that there was no need to panic.
In the meantime, restrictions across Kashmir continued for the sixth consecutive day today after the positive case of deadly coronavirus was detected in the Valley.
The streets continued to be deserted and only people with emergencies were found out besides people on essential duty.
Police and paramilitary forces were deployed in strength today who enforced the restrictions across Kashmir to prevent coronavirus outbreak.
Police today booked and arrested several people for violating prohabitory orders in Kashmir and authorities appealed people to stay indoors.
Police in Ganderbal arrested ten drivers and seized their tippers and also arrested one shopkeeper who were found violating the government orders today. In this connection, a case under FIR number 08/2020 and FIR number 19/2020 under section 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Kheer Bhawani and Police Station Lar respectively.
In North Kashmir’s Handwara area of Kupwara district, 34 persons were booked today while as 16 vehicles have been seized for violating the government orders. “In Police Station Handwara, six persons were arrested and six vehicles seized for violating the orders. In this regard, a case under FIR Nos, 74, 75 and Section 188 IPC stands registered in Police Station Handwara,” police said.
In Police Station Kralgund, three violators have been booked and three vehicles seized for the same offences and a case under FIR number 24 under section 188 IPS stands registered in Police Station Kralgund. In Vilagm Police Station, a case under FIR number 15/2020 and Section 188 IPC was registered and 15 violators arrested and six vehicles seized.
In Police Station Qalamabad, Kupwara, 10 violators who were found violating the restrictions imposed under Section 144 IPC have been booked and a case under FIR number 16/2020 under Section 188 IPC stands registered and investigation is going on.
In South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, authorities sealed at least 21 shops for violating the Government orders.
An official said that as a preventive measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 and in order to ensure strict implementation of section 144 CrPc, 21 shops operating in violation of restrictions have been sealed in Anantnag. He said that these shops were sealed by district police and Municipal Committee Anantnag.
In South Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said that at least 25 shopkeepers have been booked in the district for violating the Government norms.
And Police in Boniyar, Uri in district Baramulla registered an FIR against a pharmacist for hiding his travel history and he has been sent for the mandatory quarantine. The man had recently travelled from Saudi Arabia. He was posted at Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Boniyar. “We have booked him under Sections 188, 271 IPC at Police Station Boniyar”, an official said.
The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, today suspended three employees of DC Office, Anantnag including two Junior Assistants and one Patwari deployed at COVID-19 Control Room for remaining un-authorizedly absent from their duty.
Police Station Qaimoh in Kulgam today apprehended 3 persons identified as Raashid Ahmed Badder son of Gulam Rasool Badder, Murtaza Ahmed Badder son of Abdul Salam Badder and Faisal Mushtaq Badder son of Mushtaq Ahmed Badder, all from Badderpora Qoimoh for violating prohabitory orders. They were part of large group but others managed to escape. “In this regard Case FIR No. 9/2020 u/s 188, 269 IPC stands registered against the violators in PS Qaimoh”, Police said.
Police Station Yaripora in Kulgam registered case against 5 violators identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat from Sempora Behibagh, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohiudin Shah from Behibagh, Mohammad Ashraf Shah son of Ghulam Qadir Shah from Behibagh, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat son of Abdul Ganie Bhat from Sempora Behibagh and Gulzar Ahmad Nangroo son of Ghulam Mohammad Nangroo from Sempora Behibagh.
Police Station Qazigund in Kulgam found running some shops open in contravention to the orders and registered cases against six people.
Police Station D.H.Pora Kulgam seized 12 vehicles and apprehended 12 drivers. The violators have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Thokar son of Abdul Khaliq Thokar from Yarikha, Ajaz Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Aziz Ganie from Chimmer, Subzar Ahmad Teeli son of Mohammad Subhan Teeli from Chechimulla, Naseer Ahmad Hakeem son of M Iqbal Hakeem from Gopalpora, Javid Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie from Takkia Gopalpora, Sayar Ahmad Naik son of Ghulam Ahmad Naik from Poshhama Shopian, Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh from Hadigam Kulgam, Mehraj din Wani son if M Amin Wani from Chancer Kulgam, Sheeraz Ahmad Wani Abdul Gani Wani from Adijan, Abdul Hamid Naik son of Abdul Khaliq Naik from Poshama Shopian, M Aasif Sheikh son of Abdul Hameed from Bradipora Shopian and Showkat Ahmad Alaie son of Habibulah Alaie from DH Pora.
In Anantnag police sealed at least 21 shops for violating Government orders. The shops were sealed by district police and Municipal Committee Anantnag.

 

100 K-students stranded
As the Government shuts its airports, over 100 students are stranded in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Bengaluru.
The colleges and universities in Bangladesh and Pakistan have been shut and all the students asked to go home and they want to return home too due to fear and apprehension surrounding around due to Coronavirus.
A student stuck in Bangladesh said that their tickets from Kolkata to Delhi were also confirmed but still authorities are not allowing them to move ahead.
Around a group of 70 Kashmiri students are stuck for last 24 hours at Benapole border in Bangladesh and they have nothing to drink or eat. “We cannot go back now to Bangladesh as we have already reached the Kolkata border,” he said.
Students stranded in Bangladesh and Pakistan have appealed to External Affairs Minister to intervene so that they can return home. They have also urged Jammu and Kashmir administration to intervene into the matter and ensure their safe return.
17 Kashmiri students including two girls are stuck at the Bengaluru International Airport with nowhere to go after airports were shut.
The students arrived in the morning at the airport as they had scheduled flight this afternoon. “We understand the crisis but we have nowhere to go. The hostel authorities have shut the hostels, we cannot go back even there,” said Zahid Ahmad, a student of East Point Medical College.
As the city outside is under lockdown, it is very difficult to arrange hotels. “We have money with us but we cannot manage hotel rooms or food as everything is shut outside,” said Yawar Ahmad, a Medical student at East Point Medical College.
“Some of us went outside the airport to bring something to eat, we were beaten by police as they accused us of defying Government orders,” said Zahid Ahmad, a Medical student. The students shared the video where a cop was seen beating a student and the pictures with bruises.
The students said that the Indigo staff is forcing them to vacate the airport premises where they are currently putting up with their baggage. “We do not know where will we go, the police outside is beating us, the airport authorities are refusing shelter to us. We now appeal to the Lt Governor for the help,” said Zahid.
