JAMMU, Mar 6: On the third day of Bikaner Theatre Festival, Natraj Natya Kunj, cultural society, Jammu staged its acclaimed Dogri Play ‘Urubhangam; The Shattered Thigh’ at Ravindra Rangmanch in Bikaner.
Urubhangam is one of the oldest surviving plays of Sanskrit written by Mahakavi Bhasa and adapted in Dogri by well known writer Kumar A ‘Bharti’.
The play is an episode from Mahabhartha depicting the death of Duryodhana.
Here is a war hero who decidedly stood for Adharma all through his life. But suddenly he realizes that his belief was wrong. The moment he faces the inevitable finale of his life and when he is turned out to be a lump of day he looks back. Now it is too late to withdraw his creation.
The play ended on a serious note and was directed by Abhishek and Aaditya Bharti.
The artists who acted in the play were Akshay Razdan, Amandeep Sharma, Lalit Sharma, Mukesh Bakshi, Kanav Sharma, Tejan Bharti, Akash Sharma, Karan Mehra, Niharika Sakshi, Hema Shivgotra, Priya Sharma and Anshika Sharma. Lyrics were done by Karan Mehra, make up by Manoj Dhamir, costumes by Niharika Sakshi and Lights & Sound by Aaditya Bharti.
