Illegal entries of 87900 kanal land expunged in Srinagar, Rajouri

*Around 236 kanal land retrieved in Jammu, Udhampur

SRINAGAR, Mar 6: Illegal entries for 87,900 kanals of State, khachari, forest and common land have been expunged in Srinagar and Rajouri by the respective district administrations while around 236 kanal of State land has been retrieved in Jammu and Udhampur districts.
The Srinagar district administration has expunged all illegal entries made against encroached Government and kacharai land from revenue records of the district and has started processing eviction proceedings against illegal occupants with issuance of eviction notices.
The illegal entries have been cancelled and expunged for all of 34,238 kanals of encroached land across all seven tehsils of the district – including 25,327 kanals and 7 marlas of Government land and 8910 kanals and 7 marlas of kacharai land.
These illegal entries have been removed from a total of 5631 survey numbers against the Government land and 1682 survey numbers against the kacharai land from across the district.
The details of illegal occupants include total of 13,223 encroachers on Government land and 4650 encroachers on kacharai land. These include 5007 encroachers of 14,848 kanals and 2 marlas of land in Eidgah tehsil, 4584 encroachers of 8124 kanals and 14 marlas in North tehsil, 4451 encroachers of 3213 kanals and 16 marlas in South tehsil, 1890 encroachers of 4361 kanals and 6 marlas in Shalteng tehsil, 1352 encroachers of 2224 kanals and 1 marla in Khanyar tehsil, 513 encroachers of 1375 kanals and 10 marlas in Panthachowk tehsil, and 76 encroachers of 90 kanals and 4 marlas in Chanpora tehsil.
The District Administration Rajouri cancelled illegal entries of 53662 kanals of kacharai, Gair Mumkan Jad (forest), village common and state land in Rajouri disrtrict.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf informed that the work of inspection of all the Revenue record specifically illegal entries recorded against kacharai, village common and state land was taken up to remove all such entries and to restore the lands to their original status.
It was highlighted that 6199 illegal entries on State, common and Kacharai land have been expunged recently. It was also informed that illegal entries on 144014 kanals of state, kacharai and village common land have already been expunged by the district administration so far.
Meanwhile, District Administration Udhampur has retrieved 271 kanals of state land in series of drives launched in Panchari, Moungri, Ramnagar and Latti tehsils.
The teams of Revenue department removed encroachment on state land measuring 35 kanal 2 marlas at village Pathi- Panchari, while 16.10 kanal state land was retrieved in Latti.
Similar anti encroachment drive was carried out in village Bhatyai- Ramnagar, where 70 kanal state land was retrieved, while 110 kanal state land was vacated at village Sadal Thatli in Tehsil Moungri.
In Jammu district, a team of Revenue Department today removed encroachment from 4 kanal and 19 marla area including a water body in village Majoor Danna Jallara in tehsil Chowki Choura.
The operation was conducted by Revenue officers including Tehsildar Chowki Choura Shokat Hayat Mattoo, Naib Tehsildar Yash Pal Sharma under the supervision of SDM Chowki Choura Chand Kishor Sharma.
