NEW DELHI, Mar 5: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Senior leader and Member of Parliament from Anantnag Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi today raised the issue of stranded Kashmiris in Iran whose families back home are going through mental agony and trauma.
While speaking in the Lok Sabha during the question hour, the MP raised the issue of return of stranded kashmiris from Iran, which is presently battling to contain Coronavirus sprawl. Seeking early return of stranded passengers, students, businessmen, Masoodi urged the Union Health Minister Harsh Vardan to ensure their wellbeing.
“The stranded students are mostly keeping themselves confined to their hostel rooms fearing that they might also contract the disease on motioning out. The death toll in Iran has the most outside china; the country is battered with the novel virus infections that have killed 77 people so far. As the Iranian Government is wrestling there with the sprawl of virus infections, the Government of India should also swing into action and take necessary steps to come to the rescue of stranded Kashmiris there,” he said.
The Union Minister, in his response, said that the Government is industriously working on the problem and that a team of experts from India is on its way to Iran to test the stranded Indians for the virus as well as giving required medical aid to them on ground.
Later, the MP while having audience with the concerned minister, asked him to take concrete steps towards ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those stranded in Iran from J&K. The concerned minister ensured the Member of Parliament that Government is industriously working towards the wellbeing of those stranded in Iran.
Earlier Masoodi called on Union Minister of External affairs S Jaishankar in New Delhi and urged him to expedite the return of all stranded devotees and students from Iran. The MP was informed by the Union Minister about the sleuth of measures taken by his ministry towards the safe evacuation of stranded Indians from around the virus hit countries particularly Iran. The minister apprised the MP that the impediments mostly technical were impeding the safe return of stranded students and devotees have been sorted out and that they shall be back home within a day or two.
