JAMMU, Feb 3: The casual/ temporary workers of Power Development Corporation Limited and Power Transmission Corporation held strong protest demonstration in support of their demands at Press Club here today.
A large number of casual labours /workers under the leadership of Akhil Sharma, president – J&K Casual Labour, PDCL & PTCL Workers Union Jammu assembled near Press Club, near Main Tawi Bridge at Jammu in the morning and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their pending demands.

They said that pending wages of many workers have not been released due to the fault on the part of staff as they have not uploaded complete data on the portal. Akhil Sharma extended gratitude to the Commissioner and Chief Engineer (PDD) for releasing wages of 2583 workers but maintained that wages of 791 workers have not been released. He sought the intervention of the concerned Commissioner/ Secretary into the matter. He said 150 more left out workers are yet to be brought under NIC Portal system.
Ashish Verma, Junaid, Ramesh Singh, Sham Sharma and Gurez Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Power workers under the banner of JKNGEEA also held another protest outside the office of Chief Engineer, PDD at Canal Road here today. The Association leader Mohd Maqbool Ganai was leading the protest. The protesting employees projected their issues and criticised the Government for ignoring their issues like regularisation, conduct of DPC etc. They were also opposing unbundling of the PDD. Secretary Gurmeet Singh also spoke on the occasion.
