NEW DELHI, Feb 3: During the ongoing budget session in Parliament, member of Lok Sabha, Ladakh constituency, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal raised the issue of shortage of officers and staffs in various departments in the Union Territory of Ladakh and strongly urged the Government to fill up vacant post and create the new posts at the earliest possible.
Raising the urgent matter in the Parliament, under Rule 377, the MP said: “People of Ladakh are very thankful to this Government for making the region a Union Territory. However, the acute shortage of officers and staffs is one of the main problems for the smooth functioning of the UT and the developmental activities that need to be carried out in a very limited working season.”
Pointing out that there are only two Secretaries looking after 30 departments and about 5600 out of 19878 posts are lying vacant, the MP strongly urged the Government to pay special attention to recruit staff by framing the required recruitment rules and process it on fast track basis by taking Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils into confidence and create new posts and recruitment for the same on priority basis.
