JAMMU, Mar 25: Directing the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) to provide requisite information regarding selection criteria and joining of the Depot Managers, for which the posts were advertised in 2011, the State Chief Information Commissioner G R Sofi has observed that names of the selected candidates should have been made public for the transparency.
The directions in this regard were issued on the second appeal filed by one Sughal Kishore who had sought information under RTI from the SRTC about selection criteria for the Depot Manager, merit list of the candidates, copy of the joining of selected candidates, etc.
The information seeker had also sought copy of the newspaper, in which the list of selected candidates as Depot Manager was published.
In its order, the CIC has directed the PIO to provide copies of the order/record intimating the successful candidates about their selection and also joining reports submitted by the selected candidates, within 20 days from his order.
Refraining from issuing any specific direction to the PIO on its reply to the Appellant that there was no need to publish the list of selected candidates in the print media, the Commission however observed that if the applications from the candidates were invited through advertisement, the SRTC should have considered necessary to publish the names of selected candidates so that all the candidates could have known the result.
