JAMMU, Jan 21: Congress has taken a dig at the BJP asking why only five out of 36 Central ministers and only eight out total of 59 programmes scheduled for them are being held in Kashmir region to explain the benefits of abrogation of special status under Article 370 and disbanding of the State into UTs.
Taking a dig at the BJP, JKPCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma questioned BJP whether there is no need to explain the benefits of Abrogation of Article 370 to the people of Kashmir region, as only five ministers out of total 36 have been visiting there and only eight such programmes are scheduled for Kashmir region against fifty one (51) in Jammu region.
“Since one of the listed agenda of the purpose of the visit of the brigade of visiting ministers, on the eve of Delhi and West Bengal elections, is to apprise and educate the people about removal of special status for the erstwhile State, they should have organized more such programmes in Kashmir region to aware the people of the benefits of the Abrogation of Article 370. They should also explain the benefits of the disbanding and downgrading of the erstwhile State with a unique history and culture into UTs,” Sharma said.
He further said that the visiting Central ministers should also give time line for the restoration of statehood with guarantees for land and jobs to local unemployed youth whose number is one of the highest, as around 3 lakh PG scholars alone were registered a year ago in J&K.
Asserting that the visit of ministers brigade is only to highlight the agenda of the party at the expense of public exchequer by use of entire official machinery, the senior Congress leader said that the visits of ministers are also aimed at diverting the attention of the people from real issues of unemployment, unprecedented price rise and worst ever economic slowdown in the country.
