RAJOURI, Jan 10: In a special drive launched by the PDD in Rajouri town, the staff seized at least 160 heaters and other electronic gadgets and imposed a fine of rupees one lakh on the consumers.
Official sources said that on the directions of the Chief Engineer PDD (EM&RE), Jammu Sudhir Gupta, two teams led by AEEs Gulshan Kumar and Vijay Kumar, under the direct supervision of Executive Engineer, PDD Rajouri Munshi Khan, removed about 150 illegal power connections, seized 160 heaters and realized a fine of over rupees one lakh from the defaulters.
During the day long operation, there was some resistance from some consumers but it was found that due to scores of illegal conections, the Powr system was under heavy load and transformers were also being damaged frequently.
Khan appealed to the people to regularize their illegal connections and avoid using heaters. He claimed that special drive in entire Rajouri and other major towns of the districts would continue for the next few days.
