Rehabilitate border people at safer places: Manohar

KATHUA, Dec 27: Former minister and president District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said that Government must rehabilitate border people at safer places.
DCC president who today conducted extensive tour of villages on International Border like, Rathua, Gujjar Chak, Manyari, Pansar and Londi in Hiranagar sector appealed to the State Administration and Union Government to rehabilitate border villagers at safer places as they are facing brunt of Pakistan shelling.
During the tour people from various villages met Dr Sharma and apprised him of various problems they are facing due to continuous unprovoked shelling from Pakistan. People also complained of interrupted power supply which is further adding to their woes.
Sharma paid patient listening to people’s grievances and further criticized Pakistan for violating cease fire and targeting villagers. He also lambasted Govt and Administration for not paying attention and showing concern for people residing along IB and further said major priority of Govt should be rehabilitation of cross border firing victims to the safer places.
He further noted that majority of the bunkers are not built and the ones ready are lacking facility of power and toilets. Manohar further lambasted local MP and Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh for neglecting the border belt and making hollow promises with people. He said Union Minister during previous tenure had promised 5 Marla’s plot at safer places to the border people and 5 lakhs cash plus job to next of kin of those who have died in cross border firing but neither they have been provided the job/compensation or 5 marlas plots at safe places by the Government.
Dr Sharma requested the Lt Governor to look into the problems of the border residents on priority s and leave no stone unturned in making their life better by shifting them to safer places as studies of the students are also affected due to continuous Pak shelling.
