SAMBA, Nov 30: On the one side the Traffic Police and Motor Vehicle Department claim of launching daily drives against the overloaded, on the other side the overloading continues in Samba with the two departments taking no cognizance of the same.
The overloaded continues in the district and even in the vehicles plying on National Highway but the concerning departments are mum and failed to take action against them. On the main routes including border routes of Samba and Sumb there is no check on overloading. The mini buses which are plying on these routes are mostly overloaded. Not only this, the rash driving also continues on the route.
The students and passengers are forced to sit on the top of roof of the matador. During the morning hours the buses which run from village Goran are mostly overloaded with taking passengers on roof tops and students are forced to catch hold of back side railing of the matador. Although the Traffic Police laid nakkas on various places of Samba town but this is only an eye wash.
Several time the overloaded vehicles pass in front of them. The two and four wheelers openly flout the norms under the nose of Traffic Police.
The people are asking why the Traffic Police and Motor Vehicle Department do not taken strict action against them. Several times the incident happened due to overloading. The Traffic Police laid a dozen of nakkas on National Highway but the cops failed to stop overloading. Students hang on the back side of the matadors plying on National Highway. This shows how Traffic Police is working in the district, said the commuters.
