JAMMU, Nov 13: Veteran leader and former minister Thakur Randhir Singh has demanded that Lokpal and Lokayukts be appointed in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh UTs.
In a press statement here today, Singh said that Jammu and Kashmir has been declared by an independent NGO the most corrupt state in the country. He said bringing Jammu and Kashmir by appointing a Lokpal and Lokayukt which was not implemented in the state due to Article 370, was a step to be taken urgently to keep check on corruption.
Singh urged upon the newly appointed Lt Governor’s G C Murmu and R K Mathur to utilize their legislative powers to appoint Lokayukta and Lokpal (Judges) from outside the state and pass a revolutionary bill to eradicate the corruption which has become a cancer in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh suggested besides registering criminal cases against corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, corrupt Govt servants and people in the Corporate sector who have acquired wealth beyond their means must be confiscated, declared as a public property and be utilized for the people welfare.
Former minister said that appointing Lokpal and Lokayukta in the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will help in rooting out corruption and also could investigate ill gotten money amassed beyond their means by the past Chief Ministers, Ex- Ministers , MLA’s ,MLC’s , present and former bureaucrats and the palatial buildings constructed by them by grabbing Govt and Forest lands and by using Security Related Expenditure for the protection of their private houses at Srinagar, Gandhi Nagar, Sidhra and also in Bhatindi.
Veteran leader emphasized the Central Govt led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the newly appointed Lt Governor’s administration to tackle the most serious problem of corruption in the state which has become as an industry for the politicians, bureaucrats, business men and some central agencies.
