JAMMU, Oct 7: SC, ST, OBC Mahasabha has urged upon the State authorities to provide justice to these reserved communities in the Jammu and Kashmir.
In a meeting of the Mahasabha held here today at Gandhi Nagar, the members jointly discussed the outcome of the Article 370 in J&K State which was included in the constitution of India with special status agreed in principle by the then PM of the country in the larger interest of the smooth running of the State Government. The members discussed the positive and negative views of the people and also held discussions on profit and loss due to demotion of the State to UT status.
The meeting viewed that the special status of the State should remain intact and suitable modifications may be made in the constitution. The decision of the Central Government is not healthy and proved democratic by ignoring the SC/ST/ OBC people. They were not taken into confidence before revocation of Article 370. They described it as unplanned and immature decision. They recalled the decision of demonetization, imposing of GST, heavy traffic challans etc as anti- public decisions. They urged upon the Government to provide justice to the members of these communities.
During the meeting M L Chalotra was unanimously elected as Chairman, Bodh Raj Bhagat as president, Liaqet Ali, Darshan Mehra, Bansi Lal Beru Ram and AN Dogra as vice presidents, Romesh Moton, Mohinder Bhagat as general secretaries, Rakesh Verma as secretary while Sashi Sayal as general secretary.
