Legal awareness camp on ‘Plastic Bags Pollution & Composition’ held

KATHUA, Sept 9: Legal awareness camp was organized at Government High School Khokhyal on the theme ‘Plastic Bags Pollution and Composition’.
The camp was held under the aegis of Pawan Dev Kotwal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge).
The camp was organized by Aarti Mohan Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Kathua in collaboration with Chief Education Officer Kathua and Pollution Control Board Kathua.
The main aim of the programme was to make the students aware about pollution caused by plastic bags.
The audience was made aware about solid waste management and especially composition.
While speaking on the occasion, Naiya Sharma, Retainer Lawyer delivered the lecture regarding the significant efforts to reduce the prominence of free range plastic pollution through reducing plastic consumption, promoting plastic recycling etc.
Sunita Rani, Scientist of Pollution Control Board Kathua highlighted the benefits of composting which reduces landfill waste, increases biodiversity, creates nutrient rich soil, etc.
Staff of Government High School Khokhyal along with large number of students participated in the camp.
The programme was also attended by Para Legal volunteers of DLSA and TLSC Kathua.
In the end, Trisha Devi, Headmaster GHS Khokhyal presented vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, a legal awareness programme on plastic bags pollution and composting were also organized by TLSC Basholi, Billawar and Bani at GHS Mahanpur, Panchayat Ghar Kunthal Bani and Panchayat Ghar Dadowala Billawar.
