SRINAGAR, Aug 31: Restrictions were lifted from most parts of Kashmir today a day after strict curbs on the movement of people were imposed in view of Friday congregational prayers, officials said.
Restrictions have been lifted from most areas of the Valley today morning, the officials said.
Meanwhile, 29 landline telephone exchanges will go operational tomorrow adding to 47 exchanges already working. About 12,000 additional lines will be active.
“Restrictions were eased in 11 more Police Stations making it a total of 92 Police Stations free from restrictions in Valley including Sopore and Tarzoo in Sopore (North Kashmir), Bijbehara, Larnoo and Uttersoo in Anantnag, Manzgam and Wanpoh in Kulgam (South Kashmir ), Chadoora in Budgam and police stations of Shaheedgunj, Zakoora and Harwan in Srinagar (Central Kashmir).

They said barricades have been removed from the roads in most areas of the city and elsewhere in the valley to allow the movement of people.
However, deployment of security forces continued on the ground to maintain law and order, the officials said.

Strict restrictions on the movement of people were imposed across the valley on Friday in view of apprehensions of law and order problems after congregational prayers.
Only ambulances and people in emergency situations were allowed to move.
The officials said the situation remained peaceful on Friday and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the valley.
However, normal life remained affected across the valley for the 27th consecutive day today.
The markets continued to remain shut, while public transport was off the roads, the officials said, adding schools also remained closed.
The mobile services and internet, including BSNL’s Broadband and private leased-line internet, remained snapped since 5 August after the Centre announced its decision to abrogate Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 of the Constitution and reorganised the state into two Union territories.
Meanwhile, as many as 15 residential houses were damaged after Pakistani troops violated ceasefire and resorted to shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in the border town of Gurez in North Kashmir district of Bandipora.
Official sources today said that Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked shelling in Bagrang area in the Gurez sector. “A residential house caught fire after a Pak shell landed on it,” they said.
They said before the fire was doused, 15 houses were completely damaged. “The Pak shelling was retaliated effectively by Indian troops,” they added.
They said the affected families were evacuated to safer areas. “One shell landed on a house after it the structure caught fire. Before the fire was doused off 15 houses were damaged,” a resident said.
Expressing concern over the escalation in tension along the LoC, he said it is the civilians who die on the both sides during ceasefire violation. “I request both the countries to come on a table and talk so that people living in borders can live peacefully,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Bandipora said, “One month ration, besides aid from Red Cross have been given to the affected families.
