Srinagar, Aug 2: The High Court today permitted the Public Health Department to go ahead with the balance work of the upgradation of reservoirs for augmentation of water supply at Gulmarg.
Hearing the application filed by the Executive Engineer, FBI, Division Tangmarg seeking permission to resume the balance work of the project construction reservoirs for augmentation of water supply at Gulmarg, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rashid Ali Dar expressed the project is being undertaken in public interest and deserve to be expeditiously completed.
Accordingly, court permitted the department through its Executive Engineer to complete the work regarding the water supply scheme as detailed in the application. Court said Executive Engineer shall ensure that no environmental degradation is caused in the area.
The application was moved in view of ban on any kind of construction in the Gulmarg area. The project was started in the year 2017-2018 after obtaining proper permission for the works under the newly sanctioned water supply scheme.
