Congress stages walkout in LS: Road sector helped in creating jobs, says Gadkari

NEW DELHI: Congress members in Lok Sabha on Tuesday staged walkout in Lok Sabha
registering their protest over rejection of adjournment motions.
As soon as the Question Hour was over, Congress members raised the issue that the issues mentioned in the notices of adjournment motion be discussed.
Congress floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was trying to speak out something but nothing could be heard in the din.
They staged walkout even as Minister for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari was giving his reply to the Demands for Grants for 2019-20 for his ministry.
However, the Congress members came back later.
As many as 62 members participated in the debate on Monday where members rising above party affiliations suggested road projects to be taken up in their respective constituencies and states and on the road safety.
In his reply, Mr Gadkari maintained besides making roads and that also at record pace in last five years, the Modi government has able to use the road infrastructure sector for creating employment.
“The mission given Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 has made good progress,” Mr Gadkari said adding about RS 17,00000 crore was sanctioned and out of this Rs 11 lakh has been made use of in road sector.
“My ministry also contributed to GDP growth of the country,” Mr Gadkari said.
