RAJOURI, July 8: The police foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 16 bovines loaded in the vehicle in Chingus area of Rajouri district.
Reports said a team of police headed by Incharge Police Post, Chatyar Chingus, SI MD Khan laid a Naka at Kallar chowk last night and intercepted a truck No. JK02BQ/ 6277 driven by Sajan Sinha, son of Hari Kumar Sinha, a resident of Sunchar in Assam.
During frisking of vehicle, it was found loaded with 16 bovine animals while one cattle had died due to congestion.
All the bovine animals were rescued from the vehicle while driver of truck alongwith his associate/ smuggler namely, Mohammad Latief, son of Babu Khan, resident of Miran Sahib in Jammu was arrested on the spot.
A case under sections 188, 295- A RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered in Rajouri Police Station against them.
