KATHUA, July 8: A minor boy drowned in Kathua canal while taking a bath in the presence of his mother today. His body was fished out by Kathua police in the evening.
He was identified as, Harsh, 10, son of Kundan Lal resident of Ward No 21, Kathua. As per reports his mother was washing the clothes on the bank of canal at Barmora, Kathua and the boy was also taking a bath in the canal at the same time. Suddenly he slipped into the canal. When the mother came to know about the incident ,it was too late as the boy had drowned due to heavy current of the water.
The Kathua police was informed about the incident by the people. His body was fished out later in the evening.
In another incident a young woman was killed after she fell down from a tree in Bani area yesterday evening while cutting its leaves. She was identified as, Dofali 30, wife of Lekh Raj resident of village Gabar in Bani. As per reports the deceased woman was cutting the leaves on a tree in the village Gabar in the evening. She slipped down from the tree and got injured. Till the villagers reached on the spot, the woman had succumbed to her injuries.
