JAMMU, June 13: An extension lecture on “Engineering Technology and Research Methodology” was held at Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET).
The lecture was delivered by Professor Noe G Alba-Baena, Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, Autonomous University of Ciucad, Jaurez (UCAJ), Mexico.
Prof Noe elaborated that research draws its power from the fact that it is empirical, rather than merely theorizing about what might be effective or what could work. “The quality which you maintain while research should always be high so that the information that you get can be used in certain policy and any future project implications”, he said and emphasized that working on a research project will obviously be a challenging and rewarding experience, provided you put the best of your expertise and skill in it.
“I believe that everyone should learn from his problems and constantly look for ways to improve his ideas and products. Quoting that a problem is only as big as we make it and for an engineer a problem is actually related to future opportunities to attract new possibilities. One who is ready to modify the problem and provide the solution is an engineer”, he said, adding that the right goal for a qualitative research should be smart, pure and clear and the methodology for research includes identify, describe, measure, graph and analyze the problem.
He motivated faculty to become a creative thinker like Thomas Edison who use to write every idea on his notebook which help to organize our thoughts and clarifies our ideas.
He took the session on next peak and insisted the faculty to conduct research by pursuing an in-depth or deep original study about any topic you want to expertise and provide solution to many Indian problems.
