RAJOURI, June 10: The people from Solki and adjoining areas held strong protest against the R&B authorities for the worst condition of Siot-Kalakote road and disrupted movement of traffic for more than six hours.
Reports said that villagers led by Panchayat members from Solki came out on Siot-Kalakote road at around 7.30 am and raised barricades. They stalled the movement of vehicles and started protest demonstration.
The agitating people were shouting slogans against R&B authorities Rajouri and Chief Engineer R&B Jammu for the total neglect of this road. They alleged that for the last over three years, no maintenance work on this road has been initiated and the vehicle operators are not prepared to ply their vehicles. The general public has been left to suffer.
Later, Executive Engineer R&B Rajouri Parvez Ahmed, SDPO and Tehsildar concerned reached on the spot. Executive Engineer assured the people to start maintenance work from Tuesday. The protesting people then cleared the road. It is pertinent to mention here that Kalakote town also observed bandh over this issue three days ago.
