80 cattle rescued, 5 smugglers arrested

RAMBAN, May 18: Batote, Chanderkote and Ramban police have foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 80 cattle and arresting five smugglers.
As per police sources, on reliable information, teams from Batote, Chanderkote and Ramban Police Stations laid nakas in their respective jurisdictions and intercepted five vehicles.
During checking, police team rescued 80 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested five persons, who have been identified as Haroon Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Rikhi Barha, District Anantnag, Mohammad Arif, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Kanga District Ramban, Basharat Ahmed, son of Mohammad Saber of Qazigund, District Anantnag, Mohammad Khushal of Parnote and Mohammad Mushtaq, son of Mohammad Younus of Neera, District Ramban.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Batote, Chanderkote and Ramban Police Stations and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Nazir Ahmed, SHO Chanderkote Inspector Abid Bukhari and SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal foiled the bovines smuggling bids under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
