40 vehicles challaned in Shopian

SRINAGAR, Apr 10: In a bid to streamline the traffic in Shopian town, Traffic Police seized two vehicles and challaned 40 others for violating norms.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Owais Ahmed, said that Shopian town observes heavy rush of vehicles during the day time and district administration has set up all measures to regulate this traffic.
“Several steps have been taken by the district administration in this regard including prohibiting heavy vehicles from entering the town area during day time and frequent challaning of vehicles wrongly parked in the town,” he said.
Ahmed also said that despite several challenges like shortage of staff and narrow roads of Shopian town, the Traffic Department is working very hard in regulating the traffic movement through the town.
During the drive, the violators were penalized for their offenses under the supervision of ARTO and Deputy Commissioner Shopian. In addition, an amount of around Rs. 12,000 was also realized as fine from violators.
