JAMMU, Apr 7: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) organized a convention here, today under recently launched programme “Save Future of next generation of Kashmiri Pandits” under the leadership of its chief R K Bhat. The convention discussed the nomination, strategy and role of YAIKS 46 coordinators, who will represent their Assembly segments of Kashmir Valley they belong to.
R K Bhat in his address said that all political parties have miserably failed to address the short term and long term issues of community and the loud talk of return of the displaced Pandits is totally a dream. “Our existence and identity is at stake, we have no unique identity. We are still holding temporary ration cards for last three decades and how long it will go ? Extreme physical and mental torture, artificial sympathies, half backed return plans and their insincere implementation do not restore KPs their lost identity. We are being used as tools in the hands of political parties during the time of elections,. There is no political will power to ensure our permanent resettlement”, he added.
The convention demanded probe into the entire PM’s Return, Relief and Rehabilitation package announced in April, 2008. Thousands of crores of rupees have been sanctioned and transferred by the GoI to State Government for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits but nothing has changed so far. GoI exploited our plight to gain mileage and State leadership leaves no stone unturned to bleed India and miss lead masses. In this cress-cross situation KPs are crushed for only fault of being nationalists”, he added.
Bhat said it’s unfortunate that Prime Minister had announced 6000 jobs for KP youth under rehabilitation scheme but the fact is for last 10 years this employment scheme is still hanging and youth of the community are getting over aged. YAIKS who is spearheading the employment issue warned Government to provide employment to all those youth of the community who volunteered themselves to work in Valley on the basis of eligibility of candidates rather on the basis of merits as it is a rehabilitation scheme.
Among others who addressed the convention included B K Bhat, Sunil Koul Manoj Handoo, Ajay Safaya, Sanjay Ganjoo D. N. Bhat and B L Dhar and Dileep Bhat, Kamal Tak, Virander Ji etc.
