SAMBA, Mar 1: Ghagwal Police has foiled the bovine smuggling bid and rescued eleven cattle from the canter at Supwal area of Samba today.
Police said that on the basis of specific information, a team of Ghagwal Police Station headed by Inspector, Rajeev Kumar laid Nakka on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Tapyal in district Samba this morning. During the nakka checking a canter bearing Registration No JK08G- 2502 which was coming from Kathua side, did not stop instead of signal by police. The driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed of the vehicle and fled from the spot. But the police chased the canter and intercepted it on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway near Supwal.
During search of the vehicle police found eleven bovines laden in it and tied with ropes. Police rescued all the bovines and shifted to safer place and also arrested the driver of the canter namely Yaqoo, son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Sujanpur Punjab.
The whole operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Dr Koshal Sharma under the direct supervision of DYSP Headquarter, Deepak Digra.
In this regard a case FIR No 18/2019 under Section 188 RPC 2/3 PCA Act was registered in Ghagwal Police Station and further investigation has been started.
