AICC Secy, PCC chief ask people to get united, gear up for polls

JAMMU, Feb 12: AICC secretary incharge J&K affairs, Dr Shakeel Khan and PCC chief GA Mir has appealed people of the border belt of Poonch and Rajouri districts to remain united, gear up for the coming elections and defeat the nefarious designs of Pakistan and divisive forces.
Addressing workers rallies at Poonch and Mendhar, the senior Congress leaders complimented the people of the border region for maintaining complete harmony and not falling prey to the designs of communal and divisive forces and defeating designs of Pakistan despite grave provocations, all these years.
AICC secretary Shakeel Khan cautioned people about the dangers from the hidden forces who try to disturb the traditional harmony and unity for vested interests and said that Pakistan is hell bent to create disturbances and take advantage of the situation, in case of any disunity and disharmony amongst the people. They said that secularism and religious brotherhood is our greatest strength and anything which weakens our communal harmony is dangerous for the broader interests of the people of the state and the nation.
He targeted Pakistan for fomenting trouble and resorting to infiltrations and unabated firing from across the border on the regular basis in the recent years, causing lot of causalities of the civilians and sufferings to the border residents besides the causalities of jawans which is a matter of great concern. He also blamed the BJP led Government at the centre of failing to ensure the safety and security of border people by creating international pressure on Pakistan to desist from cease fire violation in record numbers.
PCC chief GA Mir said that the UPA Govt took various initiatives for the upgradation of the facilities in various fields to the border belt of Poonch-Rajouri including health, education and connectivity. He said that Jammu Poonch Railway Project was initiated due to the efforts of Congress president Rahul Gandhi after his visit to this border belt and survey and DPR was prepared in 2012.
He said that Poonch-Rajouri has witnessed three wars with Pakistan and suffered great deal and should get priority treatment in the matter of developmental needs, creating infrastructure and other kinds of better facilities of life besides job opportunities for the unemployed youth.
They were accompanied by senior leaders Mula Ram, Manmohan Singh, Ch Mohd Akram, Abdul Ghani, Hari Singh Chib, Ch Zaffarullah, Praveen Sarwar Khan, S. Rajinder Singh Kaka, NSUI president Raqeeq Khan and PYC vice president Ch Aijaz Ahmed.
