JAMMU, Feb 4: Minister of State for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmad Khan today asked the officers of Revenue Department to expedite settlement operations in the State in a time bound manner.
Addressing a review meeting of the department here today, the Minister asked them to complete the settlement targets in a time bound manner and fix a deadline of eight years to complete the whole process.
Terming settlement as an important input to revenue operations, Mr. Ajaz asked the Revenue authorities to take settlement operations seriously as large number of farmers and peasantry are directly dependent on settlement results.
The Minister asked the Revenue authorities to identify the tehsils where settlement operations are nearing completion and flag them for early completion. He assured all sorts of support for the successful completion of settlement operations in these villages.
On the requirements of Settlement organization, Mr. Ajaz asked them to detail all their requirements with regard to staff and equipment assuring a positive response from his side. He asked the department to use latest machinery in collecting data and maintain it for posterity.
Commissioner-Secretary, Revenue, B. A. Runiyal, officers of Settlement Department were present in the meeting.
