JAMMU, Jan 11: Government today accorded sanction to constitution of a State Level Advisory Committee to effectively monitor implementation of the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016.
Administrative Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department will be the Chairman of the Committee while Director, Urban Local Bodies, Jammu/ Kashmir will be the convenor.
Director, Ecology, Environ-ment and Remote Sensing Department, J&K; Member Secretary, State Pollution Control Board; Commissioner, State Taxes Department; Commissioner, Jammu municipal Corporation/ Srinagar Municipal Corporation; one expert from local body (to be nominated by the Housing & Urban Development Department) and one expert Non-Governmental involved in Waste Management (to be nominated by the Social Welfare Department) will be the members of the Committee.
The Committee will also have member(s) in the form of representative of Plastic Association, Drug Manufacturers’ Association and Chemical Manufacturers’ Association, besides one expert each from the field of Industry (to be nominated by the Industries & Commerce Department) and field of academic institution (to be nominated by School Education Department). Besides, the Chairman of the Committee may co-opt any other officer or expert as members of the Committee, if required.
