Man injured of bullet splinters, dies

JAMMU, Jan 9: A man died of his injuries received due to bullet splinters while hunting in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
The incident is of last evening but it came to light this morning. The deceased has been identified as Pawan son of Hem Raj, resident of Rajachak.
According to SDPO Akhnoor, Ajay Sharma, the deceased along with one of his friend namely Inder Singh of Reasi went for hunting in forest area of Rajachak last evening. They said while hunting for a wild animal, Inder Singh opened fire from his rifle and some splinters of the bullet hit Pawan, who received serious injuries.
He said Inder Singh took the seriously injured Pawan to his village and fled from the spot while the villagers shifted him to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
“On the complaint of the family members of the deceased, a murder case against Inder Singh was registered at police station Akhnoor and efforts were on to nab him, as he was at large,” the officer said, adding body has been handed over to its legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem.
