JAMMU, Jan 30: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today reviewed the Urban Local Bodies Department projects in Jammu region, including the introduction of on line facilities by the civic bodies.
The Minister who chaired a meeting of the senior functionaries of the department here today stressed the need for time bound completion of the projects with use of quality material. He warned the officers against any kind of slackness or compromise on use of material.
Reviewing the physical and financial achievements, the Minister was briefed about the progress on various schemes like Urban Integrated Development Small Medium Town (UIDSMT) and Integrated Housing Shelter Development Projects(IHSDP) etc. He was informed that the main thrust of these schemes was on the development of basic infrastructure in the towns.
The Commissioner-Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Jeet Lal, said that under UIDSSMT was being implemented in 8 towns of the state and the work on the first phase has already been completed. He said that the main thrust of the scheme is on the augmentation of water supply, improvement of sanitation, provision for solid waste management, road connectivity, Urban Transport and redevelopment of inner city areas with a provision of shifting industrial/commercial establishments away from the residential areas.
Earlier, the Director, Urban Local Bodies, F.C Bhagat gave a power point presentation on the schemes presently under execution in Jammu Division. He said that during the year 2011-12 an amount of Rs.20 lakh and during Year 2012-13 an amount of Rs.22.67 lakh was recovered as user charges. He said that despite meager resources, the department is making every effort to come up to the expectations of the people.
The meeting was attended by District Development commissioner, Reasi, Nirmal Sharma, Chief Town Planners, Executive Engineers and other senior officers of Urban Local Bodies Department.
Mr Jora also reviewed the Master Plans of Srinagar/Jammu cities and Katra Town (2000-21). The revision of Master Plans has been completed and for wider consultations with stake holders including of the citizens of the three cities of the State, the revised Master Plans will be put in public domain from February 1, 2013.
In connection with Srinagar Master Plan, objections can be registered with Housing and Urban Development Department Civil Secretariat Jammu, Srinagar Development Authority, Srinagar Municipal Corporation while in case of Jammu Master Plan, objections can be put in the offices of Housing and Urban Development department Civil Secretariat Jammu, Jammu Development Authority, Jammu Municipal Corporation with in period of 21 days.
The objections in regard of Katra Mater Plan can be registered in Housing and Urban Development Department Civil Secretariat Jammu, Katra Development Authority and Town Planning Organisation Jammu.
Besides, the Srinagar Master Plan will be available at Srinagar Development Authority, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Lakes and Waterways Development Authority, while Jammu Master Plan will be available in JDA, JMC and Katra Master Plans will be available at the offices of Katra Development Authority, Katra, Katra Municipal Council and Town Planning Organisation Jammu.
