Performance of bankers in key areas reviewed

SAMBA, Jan 29: A meeting of bankers and District/Sectoral Officers was held to review the progress and performance of bankers in key areas relating to deposits, advances and priority sector lending for the quarter ending December 2012.
The District Development Commissioner, Samba Mubarak Singh while chairing the meeting had a detailed and threadbare review of progress achieved in sponsoring the cases by various departments like DRDA, KVIB, KVIC, DIC, Employment, SC/ST/OBC Corporation, Agriculture, Animal/Sheep Husbandry etc. under various schemes like SGSY, SGSRY, JKSSES, PMEGP.
It was intimated that an amount of Rs. 126.68 crore was disbursed under annual credit plan 2012-13 upto ending September 2012 against the target of Rs.499.69 crore.
The Lead Bank Manager informed that Credit Deposit Ratio has been achieved to the extent of 50.22% in the district.
The DDC exhorted upon all the District/Sectoral officers and bankers to adopt proactive approach to motivate the deserving persons to come forward and take benefit of the schemes. He also advised officers of the different departments to involve PRIs for disseminating information of the benefits under various self employment schemes so as to ensure that benefit percolates among the deserving poor.
During the meeting, the progress of issuance of KCCs was also reviewed and it was intimated that 28,000 KCCs have been issued and around 7000 KCCs are in the pipeline for issuance. He directed the Chief Agriculture Officer and the Bankers to ensure that the remaining KCCs are issued within a week’s time positively. He also stressed that the credit facility should be extended to landless persons for GCCs, the women beneficiaries of SGSY, SCs and STs etc so as to ensure the socio-economic upliftment of these disadvantage groups.
He stressed that special attention needs to be given to the farmers and women self help groups under SGSY and also to diversify the activities like mushroom growing, bee-keeping, dairy farming and vegetable growing etc. and up-gradation of skill of rural artisans.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Neelam Kumari Sethi, Chief Planning Officer, Sant Ram, Officers from NABARD and various Banks, besides the district/sectoral officers of various departments.
