Nickel futures down on weak global markets; subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Jan 24: Nickel futures prices fell marginally by 0.13 per cent to Rs 937.70 per kg today, tracking a weakening trend in base metals in the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in current month traded Rs 1.20, or 0.13 per cent lower at Rs 937.70 per kg, with a business turnover of 831 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in February declined by Re 1, or 0.10 per cent, to Rs 944.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 100 lots.
Market participants said apart from sluggish demand from alloy-makers, weakness in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) despite data showed China’s manufacturing growing at the fastest pace in two years, put pressure on nickel futures here. (PTI)
