Sunil Arora to take over as new CEC on Dec 2

NEW DELHI: New Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora will assume charge on December 2, according to an official statement on Tuesday.

Mr Arora’s elevation as the new Chief Election Commissioner has been approved by President Ram Nath Kovind.

”The President is pleased to appoint the senior most Election Commissioner, Sunil Arora as the Chief Election Commissioner in the Election Commission,” Ministry of Law & Justice said in a statement on Tuesday.

”Shri Sunil Arora will assume the charge of office of the Chief Election Commissioner with effect from the December 2 vice Shri Om Prakash Rawat consequent upon his demitting the Office of the Chief Election Commissioner on December 1, 2018,” the statement added. (AGENCIES)
