REASI, Nov 16: Two Policemen were injured when protesting labourers, working with a Railway construction company at Dugga in Arnas, turned violent and resorted to stone pelting.
The protesting labourers, who were demanding special tunnel allowance and release of their pending wages, also ransacked the Railway construction company’s office.
The injured Policemen, identified as SGCt Amlook Singh and SPO Shabir Ahmed, have been admitted at District Hospital Reasi for treatment.
Police has arrested five labourers in this connection and registered an FIR at Police Station Arnas.
The incident took place today around 10.20 am when some labourers working with VCCL Railway construction company were staging protest at Dugga sector, under the jurisdiction of Arnas Police Station. Shouting slogans, they were demanding release of their pending wages and also special tunnel allowance.
As four Policemen of Arnas Police Station reached the spot and tried to pacify the agitating labourers, the later turned violent and started pelting stones on the Police party, resulting into injuries to two cops.
The protesting labourers also pelted stones on the company office and broke some glasses.
The situation could be controlled only after SHO Arnas and SDPO Arnas along with additional Police party reached the spot and dispersed the agitating people.
