Ombudsman observes ‘Bima Lokpal Diwas’

JAMMU, Nov 12: The Office of Insurance Ombudsman, Delhi today observed ‘Bima Lokpal Diwas’.
On this occasion, the Insurance Ombudsman Jaipur, also holding the charge of Delhi and Noida Ombudsman centers, Sandhya Baliga conveyed that awareness campaign has been launched by Ombudsman Office to educate people about the Insurance Ombudsman Scheme so that they can file their grievances against Insurers in this forum.
To create awareness among masses, Delhi Insurance Ombudsman Office arranged for distribution of pamphlets at different parts of the city and also ran a radio campaign on Zabardast Hit 95 FM Radio Channel in joint collaboration with Jaipur and Noida Insurance Ombudsman centers.
The Insurance Ombudsman Delhi Office also organized a meet at its office situated at Asaf Ali Road, Delhi. The meet was presided by Meenakshi Kumar, Secretary and was attended by representatives of various insurance companies, presently working in India in life as well as general insurance sector.
During the meet, the insurance companies were requested to strengthen the grievance redressal system at their end and also to educate their agency and field force so that they can suggest the right product mix to the policyholders and curb the menace of mis-selling of products. The companies were requested to adopt equitable approach while handling complaints. The companies were asked to sensitize their teams handling grievances especially those pertaining to senior citizens.
