Include Gojri language in 8th Schedule

JAMMU, Nov 11: Seeking support from all different groups, linguistic groups, media and influential dignitaries of country, Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir have asked the union Government to include Gojri language into the eighth schedule of Indian constitution.
In a handout Dr. Javaid Rahi of Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation claimed that on behalf of community (Gujjars), they sought an immediate amendment in the list of official languages of India by including Gojri in the list during forthcoming session of Parliament.
Rahi claimed that Gojri has been recognised as a tribal language of India by ‘Sahitya Academy’.
“State Government has already recognized Gojri by including it in the sixth schedule of the constitution of India and it is the aspiration of millions of people that due credit should be given to this language,” Rahi maintained.
