JAMMU, Oct 28: Appreciating the boldness and firm determination to root out the corruption from the State, Jammu Province Peoples Forum (JPPF) has lauded the Governor, Satya Pal Malik for diagnosing the root cause of present mess in the State.
Addressing the meeting of the Forum, its president, Pavittar Singh Bhardwaj termed the bold steps initiated by the Governor’s administration exemplary. His decision to punish and slapping criminal cases on the senior most officials involved in allotting Insurance Medical Scheme to Reliance General Insurance Company speaks about the way he intends to deliver a judicious and corruption free administration which since 1947 has eaten up roots of the State both at political and administrative level.
His another bold decision to cancel the 100 crore project will also be an eye opener as to how the corruption is rampant at the high level both at the administration and the political spheres, said Pavitar Singh . The recent statement of the Governor and the way his three member advisory team has created a ray of hope by providing a neat and clean administration at the door steps of the public has been acknowledged by the general public. The public has felt relief as their grievances are being redressed expeditiously, he added.
The way the public exchequer was being looted shamelessly by imposing 10-15% commissions out of the poor tax payer’s money and being pocketed by the politicians and the administration has shocked the well meaning people in all the three regions of this State, he added.
The erstwhile State Governments too had taken measures to eradicate the rampant corruption by dismissing number of officers but nothing more than eyewash and proved futile as all dismissed officers were reinstated in the due course. It is the Governor Satya Pal Malik who has recently set up the Anticorruption Bureau with powers to arrest the corrupt people and seizure of their properties to check the menace of corruption at all levels in the bureaucracy as well as political spheres.
Regarding turmoil in the Valley where the Government had withdrawn cases and released more than 10,000 stone pelters the JPPF chief said that the same stone pelters are now joining militancy ranks and fighting with the security forces. He condemned the killing of a soldier by the stone pelters recently who was stoned to death.
Besides, working President JPPF, M S Katoch the other senior leaders were also present in the meeting which included Inderjeet Khajuria, Narayan Singh etc.
