RAMBAN, Oct 12: Banihal police arrested two burglars and recovered stolen cash from their possession.
As per police sources, complaints were lodged by Nazir Ahmed Kuttay and Mohammad Abbas Mir with Police Station Banihal stating that some unknown persons entered into their medical shops and decamped with cash, when they had gone to offer Friday prayers.
Acting over the complaints, cases under FIR Number 174/18 and 175/18 under Sections 454 and 380 RPC were registered and hunt was launched to nab the accused.
During the course of investigation, police team picked up several suspects for questioning and finally arrested the thieves.
The accused have been identified as Arshad Ahmed Wagay, son of Mohammad Anwar Wagay and Javaid Ahmed Wagay, son of Mohammad Shaban Wagay, both residents of district Anantnag, Kashmir.
On their disclosure, police recovered stolen cash. Police team also recovered screw driver and motorcycle used to commit the crime.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aijaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
