JAMMU, Jan 15: A day after flag meeting between the top military commanders for de-escalating tension between the two countries, Pakistani troops once again resorted to heavy firing on Indian posts along Line of Control (LoC) at Mankote in Krishna Ghati sector, Poonch district, this evening.
The Pakistani troop started heavy firing around 7.30 p.m. following which the alert Indian jawans also retaliated. However, no loss of life has been reported on either side even as intermittent firing from across the border was still going on till last reports came in.
According to the sources, Pakistani troops have violated ceasefire on border for four times after yesterday’s flag meeting of top military officers of the two countries.
Soon after the flag meeting, Pakistani troops opened small arms fire on Charanda area in Uri and Mendhar in Poonch and also fired mortar shells in Balnoi area, the sources informed.
Even as the Indian jawans did not respond the low intensity fire from across the border, heavy firing at Mankote in KG sector, where two soldiers were brutally killed by Pakistani troops on January 8, forced the army to retaliate. It led to exchange of fire for around half an hour though there was no loss of life or injury on either side, sources said.
Till last reports came, intermittent firing from across the border was still going on.
As reported, the Pakistani side in yesterday’s flag meeting was in denial mode. Pakistan remained adamant, arrogant and not ready to accept its hostile actions leading to repeated ceasefire violations on the border.
