JAMMU, Oct 6: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Pensioners Association has termed the annual premium of mediclaim insurance policy for all categories of pensioners as unfair and unjustified.
“How can a class-IV pensioner getting a pension of Rs 10,000 or family pension of Rs 8,000 can pay the annual premium of Rs 22,229,” B.D Verma, General Secretary of the Association asked.
He further said that employees drawing salary of Rs 30,000 to one lakh or more can easily pay Rs 8777 premium annually.
The Association has appealed to the Governor Satya Paul Malik to review the decision and fix suitable premium amounts which can be bearable for all the lower class pensioners.
