KATHUA, Sept 3: One lady was killed and nine other passengers were seriously injured in a road accident and collision of three vehicles at Dayalachack on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway this morning.
The accident took place on NHW at DayalaChak when a truck bearing registration no PB10CM /5627 hit Mohindra load carrier no PB35Q /2458 in which yatries of Mata Vaishno Devi were on the way to Pathankot from Katra after having darshan at the holy shrine. The truck, in turn also hit a Matador No JK02Q 9284 coming from Dinga Amb resulting in injuries to ten passengers.
All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Hiranagar. Out of them one lady was declared as brought dead. She was identified as Kanta Rani, 58, W/o Hans Raj of Pathankot . The other injured were shifted to District Hospital Kathua after first aid.
The injured are identified as Rekha W/o Roop Lal, Pushpa Devi D/o Hans Raj, Shiv Kumar S/o Munshi Ram, . Sarita Devi W/o Mohan Lal, Sunni S/o Roop Lal, Jitan S/o Mohan Lal, Jyoti Devi W/o Subash Chander, all residents of Pathankot and Sameer S/o Kamal R/o Amritsar are under treatment in the hospital and their condition is stated to be stable.
Hiranagar Police has registered a case and started investigation into the matter. The eye witness said that the truck was in fast speed and tried to overtake the other vehicles.
