Silver futures decline on weak global cue

NEW DELHI, July 18: Silver prices slipped 0.12 per cent to Rs 38,475 per kg in futures trade today as buyers trimmed their positions following weak cues from global market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September was trading lower by Rs 45, or 0.12 per cent, to Rs 38,475 per kg in a business turnover of 403 lots.
The metal for delivery in December too lost Rs 30, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 39,365 per kg in a business volume of three lots.
In the international market, silver was trading 1.40 per cent down at USD 15.54 an ounce in Singapore.
Marketmen attributed the fall in silver prices in futures trade to a weak trend in precious metals overseas as the dollar gained after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s US economic outlook reinforced views the central bank is on track to steadily hike interest rates, eroded appeal of the precious metals.
