‘Rutt Rahre’ festival concludes at Kala Kendra

JAMMU, July 16: The traditional folk festival of Dogra region Rutt Rahre, organised by J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages (JKAACL), concluded here today at Kala Kendra.
Female folk parties of Jammu region participated on the concluding day also. This month long festival concluded with a decorated folk art Rangoli amidst chanting of Dogra folk music.
Talking to reporters, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary of the Academy informed that they are organizing this festival for the last some years and this year it was organised in collaboration with Kala Kendra.
He further added that in the present globalised world Rutt Rahre is one of the dying forms of folk.
The festival was inaugurated on the occasion of Aashad Sankrati.
Dr Amn said, this festival is being organised to make the youth aware about the importance and relevance of this festival and also to preserve and document it.
The folk parties that participated included were those of Lajwanti from Batada, Neelam Kumari from Manyal Brahmna, Ashita Mehra from Manyal Brahmna and Sudesh Devi from Jaswan Paryal.
The programme was coordinated by Bishan Das, Assistant Cultural Officer JKAACL.
