Kashmir Sikh Sangat urges Governor to restore confidence among minorities

JAMMU, July 13:  Strongly condemning the purported incident of alleged harassment of a Sikh girl student, who is pursing her studies in Islamic University Avantipora, district Pulwama, Kashmir Sikh Sangat has urged the Governor N N Vohra to take strong action against the accused for restoring confidence among the minorities in Valley.
While addressing a press conference, here today, members of the Kashmir Sikh Sangat raised the issue and alleged that the institutes of learning were becoming the dens of goons and crime wherein fellow students influence the minority colleagues for religious conversion. Click here to watch video
“We fail to understand that how under the nose of university authorities, all this is happening and they are mute spectators and such anti-social elements are given
the patronage,” they said.
Moreover, they further alleged,   the same girl student was attacked by miscreants in broad day light at Tral Bus Stand but the law enforcing agencies have not traced the persons responsible for this episode even after the lapse of one week.
“This has shattered the confidence of minorities who had kept the secular fabric intact for centuries and have been a part and parcel of Kashmiryat but such acts by those anti social elements have created a fear in the social circles and the minorities have to rethink about their well being and dignity,” they said and appealed Governor N N Vohra to take strong action against the accused for restoring confidence among the minorities.
The Kashmir Sikh Sangat also urged the Central Govt. to come to the rescue of patriotic minorities living in the Kashmir Valley who are always being targeted by anti national and anti social elements.  “Sikh minority has been residing in the Valley since centuries and has contributed forcefully for the development of State. In-turn the State Government is treating the community step motherly while the hollow promises made by the political parties at the time of elections are never fulfilled and our generations are suffering,” they said and also urged the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandak Committee, Shiromani Akali Dal Badal and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee to raise issues of the community.
