DODA, July 9: Accusing the Primary Health Engineering (PHE) Department for not supplying drinking water regularly, the residents of Kota village in Sub Division Gandoh held protest against the department.
A large number of residents assembled at Kota Top and raised slogans against PHE Department of Sub Division Gandoh.
Later, the protesting residents were joined by the people of their adjoining areas, who also leveled same allegation of not getting regular drinking water supply.
The protestors including the women said that PHE Department has totally failed to provide regular drinking water supply in their areas, due to which they could not do their daily chores.
“We have fetch water from wells or from springs to meet our water needs. We have to walk several kilometers to get the water so as to cook food, etc”, a woman protestor said.
She said that sometimes, they have to take their children with them to fetch water, adding that PHE Department should redress our issue in the shortest possible time so as to mitigate our sufferings.
Another protesting woman said that they have been forced to drink muddy and unsafe water fetched from springs or well, adding that their family members also fell ill by drinking this unsafe water, but PHE Department is least bothered about this.
“We will come on roads, if the PHE Department failed to redress our issue related to regular supply of drinking water and for any untoward incident, the PHE Department will be responsible”, the protestors warned before dispersing.
