JAMMU, July 7: Junior Doctors of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today called off their strike following assurance of Commissioner/ Secretary of Health and Medical Education that all the suspended and terminated junior doctors in GMC Srinagar will be reinstated.

The decision to call off the strike was taken late last night and formal announcement for the call off of strike was made during a press conference jointly addressed by Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina and leaders of RDA, GMC Jammu including president, Sourabh Katoch in the committee room of the Hospital.
While addressing the media during the press conference, Dr Sunanda Raina informed that RDA GMC Jammu has called off the strike and all the resident doctors are going to resume their routine duties. She informed that the strike was called off after Commissioner/Secretary of Health, Dr Pawan Kotwal assured the resident doctors to concede their demands regarding 7th Pay Commission benefits and reinstatement of all terminated/suspended junior doctors of GMC Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, president, RDA GMC Jammu, Sourabh Katoch, said that as their counterparts in Srinagar called off their strike late last night after assurance of Dr Kotwal, we are also calling off our strike and resuming our duties.
