JAMMU, June 13: A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Services League (JKESL) headed by its President Major General Goverdhan Sing Jamwal, Ex-MLC called on Divisional Commissioner Hemant Sharma.
The delegation comprised of senior veteran Army officers who have undertaken the welfare project of Welfare Housing Organisation to raise two housing colonies for war widows, widows of serving/retired servicemen and personnel/veterans of the three services.
The delegation pointed out that the Government approved project that started in the year 1998 is yet to complete due to slow peddling, apathy and many acts of omissions/commissions at various levels of the revenue department and the local administration both in Jammu and Samba districts where the two colonies are coming up.
Jamwal and Colonel Kulbeer Jamwal elaborated various details and spelled out as to what was required and how this welfare project for soldiers who have given best part of their lives for the cause of the nation is being hampered and delayed.
Divisional Commissioner sought details from the dealing staff of both the districts who were asked earlier to attend the meeting. Finding big gaps in the two versions and some issues needing detailed examination, he directed the ACRs of the two districts and the concerned staff to place the files before him for study.
Divisional Commissioner gave due priority to the long pending matters and assured the delegation of time bound action on various  pending matters so that the project completes.
Those who were part of the delegation included Colonel Dr Virendra K Sahi, Colonel SA Qureshi, Colonel Chaman Bhangotra, FA Javed Ex-Assistant Commissioner (Rev) and Ex Tehsildar Baldev Singh.
