JAMMU, May 17: Pilgrims to holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji have been enjoying facilities created by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) on new track from Katra to Adh-Kunwari named as Tarakote Marg.
The pilgrims returning from the journey of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, who took the new route on way back, lauded the facilities especially fountains, parks and other such creations, which gave them immense pleasure and time to spend and rest.
The track will be fully operational once Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates it on May 19 during his one-day visit to the State.
The new track has six Bhojanalayas and View Points besides fountains and parks, which have become the sources of attraction of the pilgrims. The Shrine Board authorities were confident that more pilgrims will prefer this route once it is inaugurated as it was smooth and comfortable for the journey since mules are not being allowed on this track.
The new track has seven toilet blocks with latest technology.
Sixteen water coolers with RO facilities have been fitted at different spots on the track to provide safe drinking water to the pilgrims.
The pilgrims have been asked to just take the new track and see the difference.
The wayside facilities have been created to ensure smooth journey for the pilgrims.
According to sources, the Shrine Board has decided that only pilgrims will be allowed on the new track from Katra to Adh-Kunwari while mules will continue to take old track. It may be mentioned here that alternate track from Adh-Kunwari to Bhawan is also exclusively used by the pilgrims while mules are allowed only on traditional track from Adh Kunwari to Bhawan via Hathi Matha and Sanji Chat.
