JAMMU, May 12: In order to promote sports among youth and spread awareness against the drug menace, Sub Division City North Jammu organized Table Tennis, Volleyball, Carrom and Badminton Tournaments, under Civic Action Programme, which concluded with Prize Distribution Ceremony, here today.
SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta felicitated the winners and runners-up of various events in a simple function at Police Station, Pacca Danga, here.
He also honoured coaches and referees of the tournaments including Vasu Deewan, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Manmohan Sharma, Jagdev Singh Thakur, Vikram Singh, Balbir Singh and Sehdev Singh.
In Table Tennis Under-17 girls, Iknoor Kour defeated Ragini Gupta to win the title, while the other title winners in Table Tennis included Sourav Sharma and Saksham Verma.
In Volleyball, Sidhra Sports Club emerged winner, while in Carrom, Jatinder and Dinesh won Under-15 and Under-12 titles respectively and in Badminton Vaibhav Mehta and Vnash emerged under-15 and under-13 title winners respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Jammu exhorted upon the youth to participate more in sporting activities and stay away from drugs.
Dr Vinod Kumar, SP City North and Pranav Mahajan, JKPS SDPO City West were the guest of honour.
The function was organized by Varun Jandial, JKPS SDPO City North, Jammu., who presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
