JAMMU, May 11: The Jammu Kashmir Youth Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKYSAC) has expressed serious concern over the delay being caused in the disbursement of financial assistance to the displaced families under PMDP package.
In a meeting of the JKYSAC held under the chairmanship of its president, RC Sharma today the members expressed their resentment over inordinate delay in the disbursement of financial assistance of Rs 5.5 lakh to the Displaced Persons of 1947 and others.
While addressing the meeting, Mr Sharma said it is really alarming that despite finalizing and approval of more than 16000 cases, the Government has only disbursed the assistance to 6600 DPs during a period of more than 16 months. It has been learnt that there is lack of coordination between the State and Central authorities dealing with the subject.
He further said that DPs are running from pillar to post to get the meager amount of financial assistance and being exploited by some wicked persons and they are subjected to pay bribe. The deliberate delay in disbursement of relief is giving an ample space to corruption and exploitation on the hands of some agents even some officials.
